Toasting instructions oven: evenly spread 1 cup coconut flakes (shredded coconut) in shallow baking an. Bake at 325 degrees F for 4-5 minutes or until lightly browned, stir every 1 1/2-2 minutes. Microwave: Place 1 cup coconut flakes (shredded coconut) in a microwave safe 2 cup measure or bowl. Microwave at medium high (70% power) 2-2 1/2 minutes or until lightly browned. Stir after 1 1/2 minutes. Directions developed for 600 – 700 watt microwave ovens. After opening package, tightly reclose and refrigerate. Contents of 14 oz package equals about 5 cups. Good idea. Sprinkle over ice cream, pudding, sliced fruit or yogurt. Serve with curried poultry, seafood or meats. Toss with fruit, mixed greens or poultry salads. Mix with whole grain cereals and/or dried fruit for high energy snacks. Add to cookies and to filings for pastries and breads or whenever recipes call for chopped nuts.
