You Will Need: 1 1/2 cups water + 1/2 cup milk + 3 tablespoons butter. Stove-Top Directions: 1. Heat water and butter to a rapid boil in 2 - quart saucepan. Remove from heat. 2. Stir in milk and potatoes until well blended. 3. Cover; let stand 2 minutes to complete cooking. Microwave Directions: Do not leave microwave unattended while cooking potatoes. 1. Combine water, milk, and butter in 1 1/2 - quart microwavable casserole dish. 2. Microwave on high 2:00. 3. Add potatoes: Stir until well blended. Microwave on high 2:30 to 3:30. Caution: Handle carefully; dish may be hot!. 4. Stir. Microwave times developed using 1000 - watt microwave ovens. Due to differences in microwave ovens, cooking times may need to be adjusted. Just add Water! Potatoes can be prepared with just water on the stove - top or in the microwave. Use 2 cups water, and omit butter and milk. For stiffer potatoes, let stand 3 to 5 minutes. For less stiff potatoes, stir in more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. For food safety and quality, follow the cooking directions, refrigerate leftovers.
