Cooking Directions: Rangetop: In a saucepan combine 2 cups water and 1 cup rice. Optional, add 1 tablespoon butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover tightly, and simmer 45-50 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork. Makes 4 servings, 3/4 cup each. Microwave: Combine 2 cups water and 1 cup rice in a microwave safe container. Optional, add 1 tablespoon butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon salt. Cover and cook on high 5 minutes. Cover and cook on medium (50%) power for 45-50 minutes. Remove from microwave. Let stand covered 5 minutes. Do not add salt or margarine to rice until after rice is cooked when using microwave directions. For moister rice, use cup more water. Makes 4 servings, 3/4 cup each. These directions are for an 1100 watt microwave oven. If your microwave differs, please consult the manufacturer's directions. *Add 1 tablespoon margarine and 1 teaspoon salt per 1 cup uncooked rice, if desired. For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water.
